Album #2: The First Tracks Have Been Laid

main image Kara just laid down the piano tracks for her next album -- due for release in 2012 -- at "Widow Moses' Studios," a.k.a. her childhood home in Vermont. Though purely digital in nature, the format for this work takes inspiration from vinyl, including an A and B side. The objective: to reflect the dichotomy that is our outer and inner lives.

"People often comment on how I can emote such dark emotions when I perform my music," says Kara, "but come the close of a song, I immediately switch gears back to my normal chipper persona. It all comes down to masking vulnerability, which all of us do. Fewer of us have the opportunity to take that mask off in public, though, so most of the time it isn't obvious how much we hide from one another."

In line with the vinyl theme, Kara is also going old school with the artwork for this release. The album art will be hand-crafted entirely by Kara using original watercolor paintings!

20% of the profits from the upcoming album will be going to The Yonso Project, a non-profit that furthers children's education and job creation in Yonso, Ghana. Stay tuned for more news regarding the release in the coming months!
